Privacy Policy

Last reviewed August 2026.

HealBridge works with women and children leaving domestic abuse. That makes information about you more dangerous than it would be for most organisations. A record that shows you contacted us, or that shows where you are staying, can put you at risk if the wrong person sees it. This policy explains what we hold, why, and how you control it.

The short version

  • We hold as little about you as we can, for as short a time as we can.
  • We do not tell your husband, your partner, your family, your employer or the police that you contacted us, unless you ask us to.
  • You can ask us to delete everything we hold about you at any time, and we will.
  • We do not sell, rent or share your information for marketing, ever.

What we collect

When you contact us through the form on this site, we receive the name you give, the email address you give, a subject line and your message. You do not have to give your real name. Many people do not, and that is fine.

If you call or send a message to our support line, we hold the number you contacted us from unless you ask us to remove it. We can also reply through a different method if that is safer for you.

If we open a case with you, we record what you have asked for and what we have arranged, because six different people cannot help you if none of them know what the others did. That record is kept to the minimum needed to do the work.

What we do not collect

This site does not run advertising trackers, social media pixels, or analytics that follow you across other websites. There is no Google Maps embed on our contact page, because loading one would tell a third party that your browser opened a domestic abuse website. Our fonts are served from our own server for the same reason.

Who can see your information

Inside HealBridge, only the people working on your case. Outside HealBridge, nobody, with three narrow exceptions.

  • When you ask us to. If you want us to speak to a lawyer, a clinic, an employer or a housing provider on your behalf, we will, and only about what you have agreed.
  • When a child is at risk of serious harm. Nigerian child protection duties apply to us as they do to any organisation working with families. If this ever applies we will tell you what we are doing and why, unless telling you would put a child in more danger.
  • When a court orders it. We would challenge an order that we believed put someone at risk, and we would tell you it had happened wherever we are permitted to.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not become cases are deleted after three months. Case records are kept for the length of the case and one year afterwards, because people often come back, and starting again from nothing is exhausting for someone who has already told the story several times. After that they are deleted. You can ask for earlier deletion at any point and we will not ask you to justify it.

Your rights

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act you can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, and object to how we are using it. Write to us through the contact page or call the support line. We will answer within thirty days and usually much sooner.

Browsing this site safely

Every page has a Quick Exit button at the top right. Pressing it leaves immediately and replaces this page in your browser history, so pressing Back does not bring you here. Pressing the letter E three times does the same thing.

Quick Exit cannot erase pages you visited before you arrived. If you are worried that someone checks your device, use private browsing, or use a phone or computer that person cannot reach, such as one at a library or at work.

Contacting us about privacy

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, tell us and we will look into it. You also have the right to complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
